Dr.Herb privacy policy

Last updated 11 August 2026 · Android and iPhone

Dr.Herb does not collect your data. The app has no Elevated Self server, account, analytics, advertising or tracking, and it makes no app-initiated network calls. Elevated Self cannot see your favourites, recently viewed herbs, notes or settings because they never reach us.

What the app stores

Dr.Herb stores the following in the app's private local storage:

The 314-herb reference and its reviewed botanical images ship inside the app and are read-only.

What we do not do

Permissions and offline use

Dr.Herb's reference, search, interaction-checking and regimen features all work from bundled content, with no network access. System file pickers appear only when you choose to import or export a file.

Notifications are the only permission Dr.Herb ever asks for, and only if you switch the daily regimen reminder on. Decline it and every other part of the app is unchanged. On Android the app additionally declares the permission needed to restore your reminder after the device restarts; it prompts for nothing and grants access to no data.

No permission Dr.Herb requests grants access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar or storage.

How the reminder works

The reminder is generated entirely on your device from the regimen you entered. Nothing is transmitted, and Elevated Self is not involved in producing or delivering it.

It is silent by default, and its text is only a count — for example “2 herbs still to take today”. It never names a herb, so nothing about what you take appears on your lock screen. Opening the app is the only way to see which herbs are outstanding.

On Android the reminder uses an inexact alarm, so the system may deliver it a few minutes late in order to save battery. Dr.Herb deliberately does not request the exact-alarm permission that would change this.

Backups, exports and imports

Android automatic backup is deliberately disabled. On iPhone, Apple's user-controlled encrypted device or iCloud backup may include Dr.Herb's local app data according to your Apple backup settings.

Settings → Data → Export my data (JSON) creates a portable backup of favourites, notes and your regimen. Export notes (CSV) creates a flat notes file. The operating system hands the file to the destination you choose; that destination's privacy policy then applies. Nothing is exported unless you initiate it. Import data merges a JSON backup into the existing local data.

Deleting your data

Remove individual favourites or notes in the app, or uninstall Dr.Herb. Uninstalling removes its local data. Because Elevated Self holds no copy, there is no account to close and nothing to request from us.

Children

Dr.Herb is intended for adult information use and is not directed at children.

Not a medical device

Dr.Herb is an educational herbal reference, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition, and it does not prescribe or recommend an herb or dose. Discuss treatment decisions and possible interactions with a qualified healthcare professional.

Regimen tracking records decisions you have already made. Dr.Herb does not suggest a herb, a dose, a schedule or a duration, and marking a dose taken is a note to yourself, not medical supervision.

Third-party content

Bundled herb photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences and are credited in the app. Medical source and software notices are also available in Dr.Herb Settings.
